I have wanted to try the English paper piecing method for hexagon patchwork for a while and so I suggested making these small pin cushions to my knitting group on Tuesday evening. Everyone brought their fabric and a needle, thread and scissors. I took lots of tiny paper hexagons which I drew on isometric paper and photocopied to use as templates. By the end of 2 hours, lots of us where nearing the end. It was a perfect short project and an ideal introduction to the hexagon patchwork method which is quite easy. I’m not sure I’ll be making an enormous quilt anytime soon but I will be trying other smaller projects using this method. Maybe a tea cosy? Or a set of place mats?
